The Painted Redstart  is one of the most dazzling and charismatic warblers of Arizona’s mountains. With jet-black plumage, white wing patches, and a crimson belly, it flits and flashes its wings and tail to startle insects. Found in shaded canyons and pine-oak forests, it is a common breeder from the Santa Ritas to the Chiricahuas. Its cheerful song and fearless behavior make it a standout among mountain birds.
