The Hooded Warbler is a rare vagrant from the southeastern United States, identifiable by the male’s striking black hood and yellow face. It prefers dense understory habitats and shady thickets. In Arizona, sightings occur mainly in the southeastern mountains or along major riparian corridors during migration. Its song—a series of clear, whistled notes—is seldom heard here but familiar in its eastern breeding range.
