The White-throated Sparrow (Zonotrichia albicollis) is a handsome member of the sparrow family, distinguished by its crisp white throat patch and contrasting head stripes, which occur in two color morphs—white-striped and tan-striped. This species breeds in the northern forests of Canada and the northeastern United States, and only appears in Arizona as a scarce winter visitor and migrant. Records are scattered, but individuals are most often found in brushy habitats, riparian woodlands, and well-vegetated urban areas, particularly during the cooler months from October through April.
